NewsAFGE Local 200 Meets With Congressman LoBiondo03/2007 - Joe Iovanisci and Bob Challender met with Congressman Frank LoBiondo and his Legislative Director in his Washington office on March 7, 2007. The Congressman dedicated significant time to gain understanding of Local 200’s urgent need for changing FAA contract bargaining law. He had co-sponsored legislation last year that fell 8 votes short of a 2/3 majority. He continues at the forefront of the effort to re-write the law that allows the FAA Administrator to impose working conditions and adverse pay actions on FAA employees. The Congressman also expressed concern over the FAA Core Compensation Pay System. However, it was understood by all in attendance that the first priority is leveling the playing field for true negotiated contracts to be reached. The Congressman presented statements in support of AFGE Local 200 to the House Aviation Subcommittee on March 22, 2007. His statement can be found in the below link. All Unions are united in the effort to restore a two-sided bargaining process to FAA contract negotiations. Congressional members of both parties have endorsed changing the rules by which contracts are negotiated in the FAA. Local 200 will continue to pursue this issue until resolved. AFGE Local 200 Sponsors Local Youth Baseball Club02/2007 - Our Local became a "Silver Sponsor" of the Mays Landing Muckdogs Youth Baseball Club through a $500 donation in February 2007. According to this organization: "Baseball is no longer played solely in the summer. It is a year round sport, with leagues or tournaments in spring, summer, and fall, and indoor workouts in the winter. To compete in our national pastime, kids must be a part of something more than a recreational team for eight weeks. Therefore, the Mays Landing Muckdogs Baseball Club has been created to allow those who love the sport to participate, learn, and compete throughout the year." More information on the club can be found at: http://www.eteamz.com/baseballbyweb AFGE Local 200 donates to Katrina Victims12/2005 - Our Local donated $5000 to the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA) in December 2005. FEEA (or "FEE-uh" as it's commonly pronounced) is the only non-profit organization devoted solely to helping civilian federal and postal employees. The Fund provided more than $300,000 in hurricane relief grants to federal employees affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and other Gulf Coast states by the beginning of October of 2005. FEEA expected to double that amount by the end of October. More information on the organization can be found at: http://www.feea.org/index.html
